Send to Kindle

Our interview today is with Samantha Fury. Thanks Samantha for being here today and for agreeing to do this interview.

Samantha Fury

Introduction: Thanks for inviting me over Russell. I’d like to say hello to your readers. I’m Samantha Fury of the Street Justice Series. I write under two genres, and two names. Since I turned eight years old I’ve been a Christian and writing. I love to talk about writing and my babies, they’re dogs but don’t tell them, they think they’re human. In the picture above you will find my two babies. Jack and Max the smaller one as most of my fans will know is Jack.

Question: What do you think prepared you or qualifies you to write in your chosen genre?

Answer: For Romance I write under my Great Grandmothers maiden name, Lovern. What qualifies me for romance? For one, I’ve been reading romance and falling in love, over and over, since I was old enough to know what romance is. Two, I’ve read more books and watched more romance movies than I care to mention. The key to writing in any genre is enjoying it and loving it, and romance is my favorite genre. You can find out more about my romance novels here. Samantha Lovern

I also write what I call life fiction, it’s categorized under suspense/mystery/romance, but it’s more about life in general. I don’t like the term women’s fiction, because I feel that I write for men too. I’ve been told it’s like law and order without courtroom scenes, but with kissing. I love delving into what we as Christian’s face on a day to day basis and letting people see that you can live the life of a Christian in any and every circumstance. Question: Tell us a little about your “real” (Non-writing) life — family, job, and church life. Does it give you inspiration for your writing?

Answer: My real life now consists of taking care of my babies, and working from home. My old life consisted of riding in an 18-wheeler with my husband. I did this for 18 years and I loved it. We were in a different city almost every day. It was great inspiration for my novels. If I want to write about Chicago, I’ve been there. If I want to write about Las Vegas, I’ve been there. I’ve been in 48 states and Canada many, many times over the past 18 years. That part of my life is over and now I’m a stay at home Author/Cover Artist. I try to go to church once a week, and Hubby and I enjoy owning our own business, but it’s more work at times than I’d like to admit.

Question: Tell us about things you enjoy — what you do for fun or personal satisfaction?

Answer: I love to write, and make covers; it’s what I enjoy. Sitting outside, on the laptop, with the dogs on a beautiful fall day, is a great day. I create beautiful pre-made book covers at a very reasonable price. I know the importance of a great cover and I hope to help many Indie Christian and Non Christian Authors get the best cover they can for their novels. Fury Cover Design

Question: Since you have several books out, tell us what you think works for promotion. What are your thoughts on ebooks versus print books and different ways to let people know about you and your books?

Surprise Engagement

Answer: I have four books out as we speak working on getting Maid for Martin into audio form, and working on two other books, Surprise Engagement, book two in the California Love Trilogy, is in the editing stages. Mending Fences, book four in the Street Justice series is in the first draft stages.

Promoting books takes time and money, both things that most don’t have a lot of these days. I allow my books to promote themselves. I place adds in the back of each book telling readers about my other books. I use my blog, Samantha Fury Land of Writing, to help promote myself as an author and I use, Facebook, my websites, and word of mouth. As for e books and paperbacks I love both. I love my kindle and text to speech, but there are times you just want to hold a book, so I think there will always be a place for both.

Flowers

Question: Tell us one place you visited or person you met, that made a big impression on you, and why.

Answer: The one that has meant the most of course is Jesus Christ, he’s made the biggest impression and change in my life than anyone has. Otherwise, there have been so many wonderful people I’ve met, I just can’t narrow it down to one. I’ve been blessed to meet Jeff Gordon, Travis Tritt, T. Graham Brown, Marty Stuart, Steve Warner, to name a few of the famous.

While traveling over this great country, I’ve met Cowboys, truckers, Indians, and people from other countries. George who was from Greece comes to mind. As far as places go I just can’t name one. This country we live in is so amazingly beautiful, everything from the badlands of Texas, to the huge mountains of Montana, to Maine and the coastline, even to New York City and the crazy traffic and our beloved Twin Towers. I’ve been so blessed to see it all, and I thank God for the life he’s given me, and I can’t wait to see what he does next.

Question: Share something that’s amazing, touching, or that makes you angry.

Answer: Life in general is amazing, I love this country we live in, love the opportunity’s to serve God and enjoy what freedoms we have left. What makes me angry? At the top of my list is Government officials that waste money and take away our rights in the name of stupidity, and people that abuse animals. I love my boys as I call them, and can’t imagine how people can even think about being cruel to animals.

Dogs

Question: What’s the worst trouble you ever had with getting a book written (plots, finding needed information, getting a cover done)?

Answer: When you write fiction there are always issues. I write things as close to the truth as I can get them, so I have to become a nurse, a lawyer, police officer, and preachers, to name a few.

Crossing state lines to do police work was an issue once. I’m always beating up my Main Mc, Angel Morganson, and having to do hours and hours of research on the effects of his injuries. Angel is an undercover detective, he’s always getting into a drug bust, or a crime wave, and I’m running to google to solve some problem.

Question: What is your current WIP?

Answer: This is a loaded question I always have at least three WIP’s going at once. My mind jumps from novel to novel so it keeps me busy. Right now I’m working on Mending Fences and a new romance, Last Man Standing, and about two others that aren’t far along enough yet to have a title. Last Man standing will be a year or two before it comes out. I hope to have Mending Fences out sometime in the first of next year. It’s book four in the Street Justice Series.

Mending Fences

Question: How many books do you have out?

Answer: Right now I have out four books three under the name Samantha Fury and one under the name Samantha Lovern.

Montage

Question: What are your future projects?

Answer: I hope to keep making book covers, and writing books. I want to have at least ten books in the Street Justice Series, and a lot more Romance novels under the pen name Samantha Lovern. I enjoy writing and the only thing that slows me down is the editing process. That takes some time, beta readers, and editors, but it’s all so exciting. I’m also just getting ready to hear my first sample reader for Maid for Martin. I hope to have it out in Audio Book form in time for Christmas.

I also hope to keep working on what we’re now calling the CIA Network, it’s our Christian Indie Authors Groups on Facebook. It’s a great group of Christian Authors, we have everything from editing groups, cover design, a website, a forum, a readers group. You name it and if we don’t have it, we soon will. It’s a large growing group and I think it’s going to be a great ministry in helping Christian Authors be a light in a dark place.
