Do children still play ‘Follow the Leader?’
Many adults toe the line in our politically correct society. They might easily believe that all leaders oppress their followers. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I know compassionate leaders. They work for the welfare of those who follow their example.
Is the self-esteem of a child damaged when they’re passed over for leadership?
It needn’t be. Today’s followers are the leaders of tomorrow.
It seems like only yesterday that I was in elementary school. I recall the early grades and standing in a line at the classroom door. My teachers daily rewarded a student for good behavior by designating them as leader. I remember leading my classmates to the lunch room cafeteria.
Jesus is my trusted leader.
“To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep listen to his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he puts all his own sheep outside, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice (John 10:3-4 NASB).”
I will follow…
Where He Leads Me by Ernest W. Blandy (Public Domain)
[Vs. 1] I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
‘Take thy cross and follow, follow Me.’
Refrain:
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way.
