THE FLYOVER,

Wednesday, AUGUST 14, 2024,

Good Morning! On this day in 1994, French authorities apprehended international terrorist Illich Ramirez Sanchez, also known as Carlos the Jackal, in Khartoum, Sudan.

Speaking of Carlos, a literary note: author Robert Ludlum based the antagonist of The Bourne Identity on Sanchez. Of course, in the book, the terrorist wasn’t captured by French agents; Jason Bourne got him.

FBI Probes Hack Attacks on Both Campaigns,

The FBI announced that it has opened an investigation into attempted hacks of both presidential campaigns.

The investigation focuses on cyber-attacks against three Biden-Harris campaign staffers and Roger Stone, a former adviser to former President Trump.

The announcement followed a previous statement released by Microsoft stating the tech company discovered Iranian hackers targeted the campaign of an unnamed U.S. presidential candidate in June.

Politico and other media outlets reported on Saturday that they had begun receiving internal Trump campaign documents in July. The attempted hack of the Harris campaign appears to have been unsuccessful.

Titanic Artifacts Hidden in Secret Warehouse,

Rarely seen Titanic artifacts, including an alligator-skin handbag and vials of still-fragrant perfume, have been quietly stored in a secret Atlanta warehouse.

RMS Titanic Inc., with exclusive salvage rights, has recovered 5,500 items from the wreck, including intact champagne bottles and ornate china, providing insights into passengers’ lives.

One poignant artifact—a medical card—reveals that third-class passenger Marian Meanwell was initially booked on the Majestic but reassigned to the Titanic, where she became one of the 1,500 victims.

Before we go let me tell you about one of the books found on my Bookstore,

Go to https:// payhip.com/ Christian NonFiction eBookStore then scroll down and click on Treasury of David.

This work was first published in weekly installments over a twenty-year span in the London Metropolitan Tabernacle’s periodical, The Sword and the Trowel.

Completed sections were released volume by volume, until the seventh and final volume was released in 1885. Within a decade more than 120,000 sets had been sold. The Treasury of David is a superb literary achievement. Eric Hayden, pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle a century after Spurgeon’s ministry began there, calls this work “Spurgeon’s magnum opus.” Spurgeon’s wife said that if Spurgeon had never written any other work, this would have been a permanent literary memorial.
