Scripture
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. – Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV
Devotion
If ever there was a time that change took on a new dimension around the world, it’s now during this COVID-19 pandemic. Of course, there have been other monumental changes but this one has touched us all.
Life as we know it is full of twists and turns and inevitable changes. There are seasons of triumph and challenge but knowing the end will finally come, helps us deal with it. As it says in Ecclesiastes, “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 ERV).
There will be always be growth, and part of growing is moving out of our comfort zones and embracing the transition. When we resist change, we stunt our growth. This pandemic has tested and changed all of us in one way or another, and for sure we will never be the same. Eventually, good will come out of this season. “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18 ERV).
Underneath all the uncertainties are lessons. This season has forced all of us to reflect and look within to make sense of what truly matters in life. It is vital to look for the lessons to be learned in this season by cultivating a healthy attitude while on this journey. Philippians 4:8 admonishes us to think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, and praiseworthy.
Every season has its grace and resources to get through it. You have what it takes to navigate this season like any other before. All we need to do is to tap into those God-given resources and keep moving. In 2 Peter 1:3, we are assured that His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His glory and goodness.
Have faith, let go of the old and get hold of the new. God is doing a new thing in this season and to receive the new, we must make room for the new. At the end of everything, there is always a new beginning. By embracing the changes, we can begin to enjoy the benefits of the new season. May God grant us the grace to embrace the new season.
