Silent movies ushered in Western cliffhangers with upright piano accompaniments. Would the hero live or come to his demise at the hands of the villain? Would the cavalry arrive in time to rescue the wagon train? Hopes were slim for the Indian ambush lone survivors. Dying of thirst, they crossed the dangerous desert. Would they reach water?
Oh, who could forget the repeated chase scenes?
Meanwhile, back at the pass…
Help was on the way.
I’ve never dangled off the edge of a cliff; been surrounded by enemies or searched for safe water. Yet, at times; I have become discouraged. Circumstances have overwhelmed me; the world is full of evil and danger. Jesus understands.
Hold on; I’m comin’!
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 NASB).”
