FaithWriters – David’s Hiding Place 1/2/2026

Hide N’ Seek has been a popular children’s game for many generations. The game is well suited for both inside and outside. There are no restrictions as to the number of children that can be involved and hiding places are limited only by a child’s imagination.

Mom took a snapshot of me sitting inside the opened cabinet below the kitchen sink. I’d guess that I was only 2 or 3 years old at the time and that was one of my favorite hiding places. Our grandson Ashley had a clever way to conceal himself when playing the game. He slid behind the pillows at the top of our bed!

It’s no game for a criminal. They want a safe hideout when trying to evade the law. Life on the run may require moving from place-to-place. Paranoid, they feel like someone is always watching. It’s a relentless repetition of the criminal hiding as law officers hunt them down.

Most never need to evade arrest; yet, many try to hide themselves and their sins from God.

“And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him to whom we must answer (Hebrews 4:13 NASB).”

We all need the safety of David’s hiding place. He hadn’t broken any laws but  King Saul wanted him captured and killed.

“You are my hiding place; You keep me from trouble;
You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah (Psalm 32:7 NASB).”
