No matter how hard they try, some children can’t please their parents. That girl’s A grade in math should have been an A plus. Dad chides his son after the baseball game; the home-run received applause but a second would have won the game. The shy daughter’s student council debate for president went well but she lacked assertiveness.
It seems that the more effort the children give the more is expected.
Are the demanding parents cruel or merely seeking to motivate their children?
Hopefully mom and dad want only the best for God’s gift of children. Confident in their offspring; they see more potential than their less confident boys and girls.
Words of Apostle Paul both convict and challenge me.
“And this I pray, that your love may overflow still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may discover the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and blameless for the day of Christ; having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God (Philippians 1:9-11 NASB).”
