FaithWriters: Take the Risk 7/15/2025

Power is released in the touch of two people. Some describe it as chemistry or animal magnetism. I believe the cause goes much deeper.

The sense of touch is a divine gift of God. He breathed the breath of life into Adam. That implies the Lord’s closeness, connection and intimacy with man. Through touch, the first man and woman found companionship and satisfaction. The birth of Cain gave Adam and Eve new flesh to tenderly caress.

Being blessed to birth two children, I experienced touch in a new way. I first looked at my bundles of joy. Firstborn, daughter April was tiny with a head full of dark hair (while at nearly 9 pounds) son Lee took me by surprise! Next, I touched their faces, fingers and toes. Is there anything softer than a newborn baby’s skin?

Most have felt the tender touch of a loved one or caregiver when experiencing sickness or pain. How could I ever forget Dad’s hand on my forehead? The physical sensation my cease but the connection lingers.

Touching others can sometimes be risky; take the risk.

And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. (Matthew 9:20-22 KJV)”

Have faith; touch the Savior.
