The command is typically voiced in old war movies. Adrenalin rushes through the soldier when captured. Feelings of fear, panic, and self-survival overwhelm them as they look into the face of the enemy. Should they surrender or try to escape?
I think a good soldier will try to avoid surrender at all costs. Japanese Samurai’s even resorted to suicide by Hara-Kiri. They turned their swords upon themselves. Spies have been known to swallow pills containing Cyanide poison. The Lord Jesus is not your enemy; you have no cause to fear Him. I urge you; surrender. Don’t be too proud; submit to the lordship of Jesus.
He’s the way to victory in spiritual warfare.
…”do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says to no purpose, ‘He jealously desires the Spirit whom He has made to dwell in us?’ But He gives a greater grace.
