THE FLYOVER REPLAY,

Friday, September 27, 2024,

Good Morning! On this day in 1066, William the Conqueror set sail from France to conquer England. This would be the last successful invasion of England by a foreign power.

For the past four years, a Maryland man has posted a daily “dad joke” outside his home. One joke has become an office mantra: “If you let them shenan once, they’ll shenanigan.” See below for the full story.

We hope you enjoyed reading today’s Flyover. Let us know how we’re doing by replying to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com.

TAKEOFF,

NYC Mayor Indicted in Bribery Probe,

New York City Mayor Eric Adams was indicted Thursday on federal charges of accepting bribes and illegal campaign contributions from foreign sources, becoming the first sitting mayor in city history to face such charges.

Prosecutors allege Adams engaged in “long-running” corruption dating back nearly a decade, including accepting free travel and luxury accommodations from Turkish officials.

Adams vowed to stay in office and fight the charges, calling himself a “target” in a case “based on lies.”

The indictment follows months of escalating investigations, including searches of top aides’ homes, device seizures, and resignations of Adams’ police commissioner and schools chancellor amid mounting scrutiny.

Hurricane Helene Threatens Historic Damage,

Hurricane Helene was expected to deliver devastating impacts across the southeastern U.S., with forecasters warning it could become a “once-in-a-generation storm.”

Helene was scheduled to make landfall in Florida Thursday night, threatening widespread power outages and flooding for hundreds of miles inland.

Meteorologists caution that damaging wind gusts of 65-75 mph could reach well into Georgia and parts of South Carolina, while 8-16 inches of rain may trigger dangerous flooding and mudslides in the southern Appalachians.

Helene Throws MLB Playoffs a Curve,

Major League Baseball postponed the final two New York Mets-Atlanta Braves games until Monday due to Hurricane Helene, significantly impacting the playoff race.

The National League playoffs are scheduled to start Wednesday, with the Mets leading by one game and the Arizona Diamondbacks a half-game ahead of the Braves for the final wild-card spot.

The playoff picture for the rest of the league is clearer as the Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Guardians, Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, and San Diego Padres have all secured spots in the postseason.

The Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins, and Seattle Mariners join the Diamondbacks, Mets, and Braves as teams needing help to make the playoffs.

POLITICS,

President Biden pledged over $8 billion in military aid to Ukraine, including long-range precision bombs, during President Zelenskiy’s visit to Washington.

A federal judge ruled against the EPA Tuesday, ordering the agency to address concerns about fluoride levels in U.S. drinking water, challenging the long-standing public health practice.

Former President Trump’s lawyers asked New York’s Appellate court to dismiss a $489 million fraud judgment on Thursday, with some justices expressing concern over the “immense” amount.

DEAR FLYOVER REPLAY READER,

The Flyover Replay believes that—like us—everyday Americans are fed up with the daily barrage of biased corporate media. Some of you have been flying with us from the start, and others have boarded along the way. I am so grateful you’re here.

Since our launch, the mainstream media has gotten worse—with celebrity journalists pushing their agendas and favorite candidates under the guise of impartial reporting. We aren’t perfect, but when we miss the mark, we own it and correct it because your trust is essential to our success.

What I’ve learned since our launch is that millions of Americans still value straightforward, fact-driven journalism—something that’s hard to find among the circus of today’s broadcast, cable, and print outlets.

But let me be candid. To keep delivering free, unbiased news, I need your support. Although I appreciate our advertisers, they don’t cover all our costs. Many of you have asked how you can help. The Flyover Replay is, and will always be, 100% free. But to maintain that, I’m asking readers who are able to make a special contribution to consider doing so.

I understand that not everyone is in a position to give, and for some, even $15 is a big sacrifice. Any amount, however large or small, will go a long way in helping us continue to provide fair, unbiased news and meet our financial goals by the end of the month. Will you make a special contribution today? EMail Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com and I will send you a link where you can contribute any amount.

Before we go let me tell you about one of the books found on my Bookstore,

Go to https:// payhip.com/ Christian NonFiction eBookStore then scroll down and click on Interactive Romans Road World English Version

Long Ago, when the Roman Empire was at the height of its glory, a common saying was “All Roads Lead to Rome.” I want to tell you about a very special road — a road that existed then and still exists now. This road, now almost 2,000 years old, has never led to Rome. Yet, strangely enough, it is called the Romans Road.

This takes the reader to selected passages in the Book of Romans in the Bible to explain the plan of Salvation. This is the ideal way to share the gospel using your Kindle. The reader can also read the entire book of Romans un-interrupted.
