TAKEOFF.

Ukraine Hits Russian Airfields in Drone Attack.

Ukraine launched a major drone attack on four Russian airfields Sunday, claiming to have left more than 40 bomber planes burning and destroying $7 billion worth of military assets, including nuclear bombers.

In a surprise attack some have labeled “Russia’s Pearl Harbor,” the Ukrainian military launched drones from the back of trucks concealed in makeshift “mobile houses” with remotely operated roofs that released the drones.

In a statement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the operation had been in the works for a year and a half and was carried out “solely by Ukraine.”

Moscow called the attack an act of terror and claimed to have apprehended Ukrainian operatives involved, while Ukraine said all their personnel escaped Russian territory.

White House Pulls Isaacman’s NASA Nomination.

President Trump has withdrawn his nomination of billionaire Jared Isaacman to lead NASA, just days before a planned Senate vote, according to his post on Truth Social Saturday night, citing a review of Isaacman’s “prior associations” without further detail.

Conservative commentator Laura Loomer suggested that Isaacman’s close relationship with Elon Musk played a key role in the White House’s decision to withdraw his NASA nomination, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Additionally, research group OpenSecrets reports that Isaacman has made donations to the Democratic Party throughout his career, including during the 2024 election.

Trump says a new nominee will more closely align with his “America First in Space” agenda.

Affordable Housing Shrinks to 11 U.S. Metros.

Only 11 U.S. metro areas are considered affordable for median-income families putting 10% down on a home, according to new Zillow data.

Affordable areas are primarily in the Midwest and South, where lenient zoning and responsive building have kept costs lower, though even these regions have seen sharp price increases since the pandemic.

Cities like Detroit offer median home prices as low as $180,000, while a 20% down payment expands affordable options to include Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Oklahoma City.

However, in places like Buffalo, strong job growth and limited housing supply are pushing prices to unaffordable levels for median-income families, even with a 20% down payment. Zillow’s Market Heat Index can help you see if your area leans buyer or seller.

POLITICS.

President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to speak this week in an effort to advance trade negotiations, according to National Economic Council director Kevin Hassett.

The Trump administration is close to submitting a proposal that would ease rules on the largest banks in the U.S., easing restrictions put in place after the 2008 financial crisis.

Three members of President Trump’s cabinet will travel to Alaska this week to further pursue oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

European Union officials say they “strongly regret” President Trump’s announcement at a Pittsburgh rally Friday that he would increase steel tariffs by 25%.

Chinese Communist officials have reportedly referred to Harvard as the top “party school” outside China, using the term to denote its political training value, not social life, after sending officials there for postgraduate training.

Long Ago, when the Roman Empire was at the height of its glory, a common saying was “All Roads Lead to Rome.” I want to tell you about a very special road — a road that existed then and still exists now. This road, now almost 2,000 years old, has never led to Rome. Yet, strangely enough, it is called the Romans Road.

This takes the reader to selected passages in the Book of Romans in the Bible to explain the plan of Salvation. This is the ideal way to share the gospel using your Kindle. The reader can also read the entire book of Romans un-interrupted.
