THE FLYOVER REPLAY,

Saturday, January 18, 2025,

Good Morning! On this day in 1803, President Thomas Jefferson requested $2,500 from Congress to fund the Lewis and Clark expedition. A vast area of the land the expedition surveyed and explored eventually became part of the Louisiana Purchase.

With an Arctic air cold blast on its way, this is a reminder that freezing cold temperatures will sweep across much of the country into next week. If you’re in its path, please stay safe and warm.

We hope you enjoyed reading today’s Flyover. Let us know how we’re doing by replying to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com.

TAKEOFF,

Supreme Court Upholds TikTok Ban,

The Supreme Court unanimously upheld a law requiring TikTok to shut down by Sunday unless its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, sells the app to an American entity.

While the Court sided with the government that the law addressing national security concerns doesn’t violate First Amendment rights, President Joe Biden announced he wouldn’t enforce the ban, leaving the decision to incoming President Donald Trump.

TikTok CEO Shou Chew responded with a video thanking Trump, who has generated 60 billion views on the platform.

Meanwhile, “Shark Tank” investor Kevin O’Leary has put forward a $20 billion cash offer to buy the app while warning that service providers could face fines exceeding $1 billion daily after Sunday. Trump remains noncommittal, saying he needs “time to review the situation.”

Trump Inauguration Moved Indoors,

President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony will be moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda due to cold temperatures expected Monday in Washington, D.C., with highs in the low 20s and wind chills in the single digits.

The temperatures make this the coldest inauguration since Reagan’s 1985 ceremony, which was also forced indoors due to extreme weather.

In a Truth Social post announcing the change, Trump cited safety concerns for law enforcement, first responders, and supporters, noting that traditional outdoor events will be relocated to Capital One Arena.

Startup Freezes Patients Hoping for Later Revival,

Tomorrow.Bio, Europe’s first cryonics lab, is offering to freeze patients after death for $200,000 with the hope of reviving them in the future when medical technology advances sufficiently to cure their cause of death.

The Berlin-based startup has already preserved “three or four” people and five pets, with nearly 700 more signed up, and plans to expand across the U.S. in 2025.

However, critics call the concept “preposterous,” noting that no one has ever been successfully revived after cryopreservation and that there’s no proof complex human brains can be restored.

Still, the company’s co-founder Emil Kendziorra remains optimistic, comparing initial skepticism of cryonics to early doubts about organ transplantation.

POLITICS,

President Biden on Friday commuted the sentences of nearly 2,500 nonviolent drug offenders, setting a record for the most pardons and commutations in a single term.

Also on Friday, Biden stated that the Equal Rights Amendment should be considered ratified, even though it didn’t receive the necessary approval from three-fourths of the states before the deadline for ratification.

Vivek Ramaswamy, former presidential candidate and co-chair of the new Department of Government Efficiency, plans to run for Ohio governor, sources confirmed Friday.

And Now, A word From one of Our Sponsors,

Promote your book/ebook on twitter and anything digital. For example, Christian Apps. I can hear all the naysayers say that twitter is a cesspool and you can’t sell anything on twitter. I have been on twitter since August 2012. I am an author and I can tell you this is false. I have sold many, many books that I can track back to twitter. I have 14 thousand 190+ followers on twitter and it all depends on who you follow. My followers are about half political and half writers, authors and readers. Now there are some writers, and especially christian writers say that they don’t feel right selling their books. You mean to tell me that God led you to write the book and all that goes into it and not mean for you to not tell people about it? I just don’t buy it.

I will send your messages either manually or scheduled. Will gain followers daily which could turn into customers. I will boost your traffic and business. I will do my research in order to understand your niche and I will make sure I can help you boost your business.

For more information or to schedule one of these plans send email to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com

Thanks Christopher,

Long Ago, when the Roman Empire was at the height of its glory, a common saying was “All Roads Lead to Rome.” I want to tell you about a very special road — a road that existed then and still exists now. This road, now almost 2,000 years old, has never led to Rome. Yet, strangely enough, it is called the Romans Road.

This takes the reader to selected passages in the Book of Romans in the Bible to explain the plan of Salvation. This is the ideal way to share the gospel using your Kindle. The reader can also read the entire book of Romans un-interrupted.
