Thursday, September 11, 2025.

Good Morning! On this day in 2001, a terrorist attack in New York City destroyed the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers, claiming nearly 3,000 innocent lives and forever changing the U.S.

Today, we report on the heartbreaking loss of Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University. A husband, father, and leading voice in the conservative movement, Kirk was doing what he’d long done—speaking to young Americans—when his life was taken. Our hearts and prayers are with his family and friends.

We hope you enjoyed reading today’s Flyover. Let us know how we’re doing by replying to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com.

TAKEOFF.

Charlie Kirk Killed at College Event.

Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem.

The shooter remains at large and a manhunt is underway. Police released a suspect they took into custody Wednesday night, the second ‘person of interest’ they questioned and then let go in the wake of the shooting.

Kirk, 31, was hit in the neck by a single round fired from about 200 yards away, triggering panic and a campus lockdown. The shot rang out while Kirk was responding to a question about violence during a Q&A session under a tent outside the school’s Losee Center.

A prominent ally of President Trump, Kirk was known for his influence among young people: Turning Point USA advocated for conservative politics on high school and university campuses.

His killing drew bipartisan condemnation and reignited concern over rising political violence in the U.S. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.

NATO Scrambles as Russian Drones Enter Poland.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said 19 Russian drones crossed into Poland’s airspace overnight, marking a serious breach of NATO territory.

NATO fighter jets and helicopters were scrambled in response, and Warsaw invoked Article 4 of the alliance treaty to consult allies, but stopped short of activating Article 5, which would require collective defense.

The incursions, which began late Tuesday and continued into Wednesday morning, followed a massive strike on Ukraine and included drones entering from Belarus. Poland borders both Ukraine and Belarus.

The Kremlin has downplayed the incident, deferring to its defense ministry and denying any intent to provoke. The U.S. ambassador to NATO reaffirmed that Washington would “defend every inch” of allied territory.

Ellison Overtakes Musk as Richest Man.

Oracle chairman Larry Ellison, 81, topped Bloomberg’s billionaire index Wednesday after a historic surge in Oracle’s stock added roughly $100 billion to his net worth, more than any person has ever made in a single day.

Ellison, now worth an estimated $393 billion, overtook Elon Musk as shares in Oracle soared over 36% on Wednesday. The stock closed at $328.33.

The rally followed Oracle’s announcement of more than $300 billion in new AI cloud contracts, including a $30 billion-a-year deal with OpenAI. The company now expects cloud revenue to hit $18 billion this year and climb to $144 billion by 2029.
