Good Morning! On this day in 1793, President George Washington laid the cornerstone of the U.S. Capitol, marking the start of construction for the legislative branch’s enduring home.

Yesterday, following the passing of Hollywood legend Robert Redford, we listed some of his biggest movies and asked which was your favorite. Many of our readers wrote in a choice not listed in our poll: Jeremiah Johnson—an excellent film!

We hope you enjoyed reading today’s Flyover. Let us know how we’re doing by replying to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com.

TAKEOFF.

Fed Cuts Interest Rates a Quarter Point.

The Federal Reserve cut interest rates by a quarter point on Wednesday, lowering its benchmark rate to a range of 4.00% to 4.25%.

Officials signaled two more cuts could come before the end of the year. Fed Chair Jerome Powell described the move as “risk management,” saying the decision places monetary policy in a more neutral position.

The vote was 11-to-1, with Governor Stephen Miran, newly appointed by President Trump, holding out for a deeper half-point cut.

Major U.S. banks quickly followed by lowering their prime lending rates. JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America all reduced their prime rate to 7.25% from 7.50%.

ABC Yanks Kimmel After Charlie Kirk Remarks.

Disney-owned ABC-TV has pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air and suspended Kimmel indefinitely after the comedian made controversial remarks about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

During his Sept. 15 monologue, Kimmel accused the “MAGA gang” of trying to spin Kirk’s murder for political gain, saying, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”

The decision came just minutes after Nexstar Media Group, the largest TV station group in the country, said its affiliate stations across the country would preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live starting Wednesday evening over his comments.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr also warned ABC and Disney about the remarks, suggesting the FCC might take action as well. “They have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with an obligation to operate in the public interest,” he said.

Trump Concludes Historic UK State Visit.

President Trump wraps up his historic second state visit to the United Kingdom today, the first time a U.S. president has ever been formally invited for two full state visits by a British monarch.

Over the past two days, Trump and First Lady Melania were welcomed with full pageantry at Windsor Castle, including a guard of honor, carriage procession, and a state banquet hosted by King Charles III.

Guests at the banquet included Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Before heading home, Trump and Starmer are expected to finalize agreements on nuclear technology and trade.
