TAKEOFF,
Ukraine Unleashes Major Strike on Russia,
The Ukrainian military targeted Moscow with at least 11 drones on Wednesday in one of the largest attacks on the Russian capital since the war began.
Ukraine reportedly deployed drones to at least five Russian regions as ground forces continued to advance in Russia’s Kursk region. In the past week, Ukraine also has struck three bridges, several airfields, and an oil depot.
Russian officials claim 45 Ukrainian drones were shot down during the attack, including 11 in Moscow, 23 over the Bryansk Region, six over the Belgorod region, three over the Kaluga region, and two over the Kursk region, areas relatively near Moscow.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces shot down at least 50 Russian drones and subdued 16 others in a prolonged attack that started on Tuesday and ended on Wednesday, according to officials.
Heat Dome Scorches Southwest,
A heat dome is blanketing the Southwest and Texas, putting over 23 million Americans under heat advisories or warnings.
Parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas are forecast to experience near-record temperatures, with Phoenix reaching 112 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday.
The heat wave is straining Texas’ electric grid, which hit a preliminary record demand of 85,558.98 megawatts.
The extreme heat is expected to persist through the end of the week, with heat alerts issued for Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, where heat indexes could reach up to 116 degrees.
List: The Oldest Restaurant in Each State,
A list of the oldest restaurants in every state includes several historic taverns, saloons, and inns, including several that predate the United States.
One of the more interesting and historical eateries is Connecticut’s Griswold Inn. British soldiers attacked the restaurant during the War of 1812, demanding breakfast before stealing the bar’s rum supply.
Perhaps the best-named restaurant on the list is Idaho’s Snake Pit. Established in 1880 as a railroad layover spot, the Snake Pit has served as a restaurant for over 100 years and reportedly served as a brothel as well.
POLITICS,
More sources now say Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will end his presidential bid and endorse Donald Trump. Kennedy and Trump are scheduled to hold separate campaign events in Arizona on Friday, fueling speculation.
Former President Trump on Wednesday held his first outdoor rally since surviving last month’s assassination attempt, focusing on national security issues while criticizing the Biden-Harris administration’s record.
