THE FLYOVER REPLAY,

Tuesday, January 28, 2025,

On this day in 1986, the space shuttle Challenger, carrying high school social studies teacher Christa McAuliffe, exploded 73 seconds after liftoff. There were no survivors.

In today’s edition, we cover scientists theorizing that flying humans would resemble Batman more than Superman. Research shows we’d need massive, bat-like wings spanning 20 feet to achieve liftoff.

We hope you enjoyed reading today’s Flyover. Let us know how we’re doing by replying to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com.

TAKEOFF,

China AI Rival Rocks U.S. Tech Stocks,

U.S. tech stocks faced a historic $1 trillion selloff Monday after Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek unveiled an AI model developed for just $6 million in two months—without using Nvidia’s premium chips.

The news sent Nvidia shares plunging 17% in early trading, resulting in a market cap loss of nearly $600 billion—the largest single-day loss in U.S. market history. Other tech giants, including Microsoft, Meta, and Tesla, also fell sharply.

China’s DeepSeek quickly surged to the top of Apple’s App Store, surpassing OpenAI’s ChatGPT. However, on Monday, the company reported experiencing “large-scale malicious attacks” on its services, which led to temporary limitations on new user registrations.

The market reaction came just days after President Trump announced a $500 billion AI initiative called Stargate, raising questions about the massive investments being funneled into U.S. artificial intelligence development compared to the low cost of developing DeepSeek.

Trump Takes On Military Policy,

President Donald Trump is expected to sign new executive orders to reinstate troops dismissed for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine and to remove military diversity and equity (DEI) programs, among other changes to the military.

Newly sworn-in Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth arrived at the Pentagon for his first day and told reporters that additional actions addressing the admission of transgender troops and the development of a U.S. version of the Israeli “Iron Dome” are also anticipated.

This latest wave of executive orders is part of Trump’s effort to reinstate previous military policies, eliminate Biden-era guidelines, and focus on prioritizing readiness and lethality.

Holocaust Survivors Gather at Auschwitz,

Survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp gathered with world leaders and European royalty in Poland on Monday to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the camp’s liberation.

Fifty-six Holocaust survivors attended the International Holocaust Remembrance Day event, warning the world of the dangers of intolerance and antisemitism on the site where the Nazis murdered 1.1 million people between 1941 and 1945.

Eva Umlauf, a pediatrician from Munich, was just two years old when she received the tattoo A-26,959. She attended the ceremony with her family, believing it was her moral responsibility. “They have to know that it’s true,” she said.

Approximately 220,000 Holocaust survivors—25,000 fewer than last year—live in about 90 countries, signaling that this is the last generation of survivors, according to the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

POLITICS,

Department of Justice officials announced the firing of investigators involved in President Trump’s criminal prosecutions, citing a lack of trust in their ability to implement the president’s agenda.

A new poll revealed widespread bipartisan support for Israel in the U.S., with majorities of Republicans, Democrats, and independents approving of Israel’s foreign policy and partnership with America.

Celebrity psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw joined border czar Tom Homan and ICE agents on a deportation operation in Chicago Sunday, filming arrests, including that of a convicted sex offender from Thailand.

And Now, A word From one of Our Sponsors,

Promote your book/ebook on twitter and anything digital. For example, Christian Apps. I can hear all the naysayers say that twitter is a cesspool and you can’t sell anything on twitter. I have been on twitter since August 2012. I am an author and I can tell you this is false. I have sold many, many books that I can track back to twitter. I have 14 thousand 300+ followers on twitter and it all depends on who you follow. My followers are about half political and half writers, authors and readers. Now there are some writers, and especially christian writers say that they don’t feel right selling their books. You mean to tell me that God led you to write the book and all that goes into it and not mean for you to not tell people about it? I just don’t buy it.

I will send your messages either manually or scheduled. Will gain followers daily which could turn into customers. I will boost your traffic and business. I will do my research in order to understand your niche and I will make sure I can help you boost your business.

For more information or to schedule one of these plans send email to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com

Thanks Christopher,
