TAKEOFF,

Judge Blocks Release of Trump Report,

A federal judge temporarily blocked the release of special counsel Jack Smith’s report on investigations into President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon granted an emergency request from Trump’s lawyers, who argued the document would be one-sided and prejudicial.

The order blocks the release of the report until three days after an appeals court resolves the extent of her jurisdiction in the dispute.

The two-volume report is expected to detail Smith’s charging decisions in both the classified documents case at Mar-a-Lago and Trump’s alleged involvement in the events of Jan. 6, 2021.

Meta Ends Political Fact-Checking,

Meta will end its third-party fact-checking program on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, replacing it with a “Community Notes” system similar to X’s model.

The company plans to shift its content moderation teams from liberal California to conservative Texas while maintaining oversight of illegal content involving drugs, terrorism, and child exploitation.

The changes, announced as Meta appointed Trump ally and UFC chief Dana White to its board, represent the latest in a series of moves repositioning the company politically, including a $1 million donation to President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural fund.

Fast-Moving Fire Rages in California,

A wildfire erupted in Southern California Tuesday, quickly burning 1,200 acres and triggering the evacuation of 30,000 people throughout parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, including the Pacific Palisades.

Fire officials said gusting Santa Ana winds could reach up to 100 mph this week amid dry conditions, adding, “This is pretty much the worst possible scenario for a firefight.”

Emergency vehicles and evacuees struggled to navigate parked and abandoned cars in the Palisades area. Actor Steve Guttenberg was seen helping move cars so fire trucks could pass.

A red flag warning has been issued for 19 million residents, an alert reserved for highly dangerous conditions.

POLITICS,

The U.S. has designated multiple Chinese technology companies, including social media giant Tencent, as high-risk for American companies and organizations to conduct business with.

Two convicted murderers have declined President Joe Biden’s offer of clemency, stating that a potential commutation could place them at a legal disadvantage while they appeal their cases.

Republicans will control the legislative process in nearly half of the states this year, outnumbering Democrats 24 to 15, while 10 states are split.

Jean-Marie Le Pen, the long-time leader of France’s right-wing political movement and founder of the National Front, died Tuesday at the age of 96. His daughter, Marine Le Pen, now runs the party.
