Going to gym class, running around on the playground or working on group projects in class—one of the worst feelings as a young kid is when no one picks you to be a part of the group. You’re left standing alone, feeling overlooked and rejected, as if your talents or abilities weren’t good enough. It’s horrible! Not being chosen is a bad feeling. However, being one of the chosen is a great feeling!
Our verse for today reminds us that God has chosen us to be on His team. He has chosen us to complete projects with Him. He has chosen us to be in a relationship with Him. Don’t minimize what God has done here, because it is not a small deal.
The Creator of the world knows our names. Imagine going somewhere and having a celebrity call you by name amongst a crowd of thousands, and then inviting you to join them for an all-access pass to their famous lifestyle. It’s incredible to think that God has a greater celebrity status than even your favorite actor. On top of that, He has chosen to gift us with an all-access pass to everything He has to offer. As Jesus said in John 15:15, You didn’t choose me, but I have chosen you!!! (emphasis added).
This week, take courage knowing that no matter what you may be going through, you are not going through it alone. He chose us so He could go with us through all of life. How can we celebrate our status as chosen? How can we live from a place of appreciation and gratitude while not becoming prideful? Try thinking of it as a lifestyle and lifetime of reflecting this great news. Always remember, we are chosen!
