A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. – John 13:34 KJV
Devotion
This is a very important command from our Lord Jesus Christ! To love means to be a blessing for others. It is not possible to love others without being a blessing for them and it is not possible to be a blessing for others without loving them.
This is a great lesson for Christians today. Many Christians do not often realize this command of our Lord Jesus and do not take it seriously. We should be very careful not to fall into this trap of Satan. Satan is a liar and a deceiver. The Pharisees were lied to and deceived because they thought they could please God with their own ideas about what the Law meant.
The real love of Christians, which is from God, has power to save lives. God’s love gives strength to the weak, helps the needy and it keeps peace with people. To love means to carry one another’s burdens, to encourage, to teach, to show mercy and compassion, to cause others to do goodness, to confess, and to ask forgiveness.
Christians who are strong in faith should care for their weaker brothers and sisters. If someone has the love of Christ, he or she should help them to come closer to God. Just as our Lord Jesus Christ said, “You must love each other just as I loved you.” So, you are the one through whom God will show His love to His children. Will you agree to be that person?
