Scripture,
Jesus answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbor the same as you love yourself.'” – Matthew 22:37-39 ERV
Devotion,
Jesus Christ was a unique person in this life. He lived on this Earth as the only perfect man and He is the eternal God. In our passage for today, He said the most important commandments are are to love God and then to love others. The true and perfect love, which comes from God, is very important.
There are so many explanations of love in our world. However, we find the only true explanation of love in the Bible, which says that God is love (1 John 4:8). Therefore, the main message of Christian faith is a message of love. This message of love and the entire Word of God is for all of the world, for all nations. God sent his Son to die for us only out of love (John 3:16). Love is the basis of our faith.
As we look at these two most important commands, we can answer this question: What is most important, to love or be loved? Some people like to be loved by all others; most of these people have egoistic desires. However, it is important to remember that loving others, not being loved by others, is important. If we say that we love God and we do not love others, this means that we have not the true love of God.
True happiness only comes from loving God first and then to love others. These two commands of our Lord Jesus Christ are connected each other and are very important. We must love God first so that we can love others, care for them, serve them, and eagerly show them the love of God. Through this love, the doors for salvation will be open!
If we have the love of God, then we easily can pass through all difficulties and challenges.
God is love and those who live in the love live in God. God bless all of you.
