Devotion
A famous movie director once said, “Drama is life with the dull bits cut out.” Everyone goes through the various routines of their lives, which have little bearing on anyone else. However, fleeting windows of opportunity arise periodically that can become defining moments in someone’s marriage, career, reputation, or destiny. If those moments are seized promptly with a Spirit-led instinct, the results can be phenomenal. If those moments are ignored or delayed, they are likely gone forever, and the rewards will be forfeited.
So, how do we find those moments? We don’t. They find us. With no warning, opportunities suddenly present themselves and are available to those who are alert and courageous. A strong foundation of love, faith, and integrity can prepare a future of prominence. Our spouses will forever cherish particularly endearing acts of spontaneous affection, and our kids will proudly remember the times we publicly stood up for our principles.
The most valuable are those opportunities to lead someone to Christ. There are windows in time when a lost soul is responsive to the salvation message and will readily commit his or her life to Jesus. According to our walks with God, our paths will be directed toward those people at the appropriate time, and we will have the overwhelming privilege of leading them through the sinner’s prayer and witnessing their ensuing radiance as Jesus enters their hearts. Such moments are two-fold: they define us as faithfully serving the Lord, and they define them as a new life in Heaven. What a tragic shame if we didn’t recognize the opportunity or found ourselves too busy to be used in such a profound way. Nothing is more eternally rewarding than to take a detour from the mundane and impact someone for Jesus!
Establish a legacy as someone who was often catapulted beyond the ordinary by seizing the myriad of chances to make a tremendous difference. Grab a bit of drama! Choose to walk with the confidence that Jesus is in control, and that He empowers all His children to achieve greatness. Let’s define ourselves as valiant servants of the Lord.
