VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“How I love your instruction! It is my meditation all day long.” (Psalm 119:97)
If we do not love the Bible, we certainly do not love the God who gave it to us; but if we do love God, then no other book in the entire world will be comparable in our minds. When God speaks, it is the delight of our ears to hear what he says.

DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

May we come away from doubting and fearing and hesitating, and may we believe. We long for the faith which trusts the bare promise of God! Let us not be asking for signs and wonders and withhold faith because these are not given to us; but whatsoever we find in your word, may we believe it to be sure truth, and hang our souls upon it. Above all things, give us grace to trust in Jesus, in the full atonement made, and the utmost ransom paid. He is “my whole salvation and my every desire” (2 Samuel 23:5); may we each one be able to say that of Christ “who became wisdom from God for us—our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption” (1 Corinthians 1:30).
Amen.

About the Author:

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (19th June 1834[1] – 31st January 1892) was an English Particular Baptist preacher. Spurgeon remains highly influential among Christians of various denominations, to some of whom he is known as the “Prince of Preachers.” He was a strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition, defending the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, and opposing the liberal and pragmatic theological tendencies in the Church of his day.
