“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story…” Psalm 107:1-2a

Psalm 107 is a long song with some very powerful accounts of how God saved people who were in dire circumstances. Some were wandering in wastelands, beset by hunger and thirst. Some were prisoners confined to darkness—even by their own doing. Some were outright foolish and suffered consequences. Some traveled the high seas and met storms. Some were oppressed by war or calamities. In every one of these accounts, people cried out to God and He rescued them.

Every single time.

I encourage you to read the whole Psalm. It’s beautiful!

People cried out in distress and God delivered them.

He stilled storms to a whisper. He brought people into prosperous cities. He led people into the light and into prosperity.

Verse 30 says, “and He guided them to their desired haven.”

What a kind God we serve!

And at the end, He encourages us to go ahead and tell our story. What is your story?

When Mary learned that she was going to be pregnant with Jesus, she traveled to visit a relative named Elizabeth. Elizabeth told Mary that at the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s baby leapt within her womb. Mary responds with exuberant praise:

“My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Luke 1:46

Her soul magnified the Lord! Mary’s soul didn’t make the Lord any bigger, but her revelation of His goodness expanded, and she proclaimed His goodness in a way that she had only just then experienced.

When we have a revelation of God’s goodness that far exceeds any revelation we had in the past, we should chronicle that. Tell your story. We can tell the exact story or we can tell a parable that illustrates His goodness. Either way is up to God’s direction and discretion, but trust me, He wants this story told more than you want to tell it.

So go on—proclaim the goodness of the Lord! His lovingkindness endures forever.

God bless you!

The Captives (The Heart of the Caveat Whale Book 1)

The Captives

The captives will only be free when Shunda loses his fears about who he is. Yet what Shunda fears more than anything is loneliness.

Qoshonni figures she has become too violent and will never come back from the brink that the MerKing has pushed her to.

Mookori knows his father loves him best, but this has no consolation as war invades the shores of his father’s kingdom.

The Heart of the Caveat Whale is an epic trilogy that takes place both under water and on land. Book 1, The Captives, in the beginning of a journey into joy and terror. Sea monsters abound, as does the valor of both simple folk and nobles alike.
