Not long ago I was sitting on the sofa, waiting for my cup 1st cup of coffee to be made. I had a cold a couple of weeks ago. But honestly, the tiredness of that cold has remained. And yesterday morning I was saying to myself while sitting on the sofa. “Is this as strong as I’m ever gonna be?” You know when you are tired of being tired and you’re ready to move on. And you know God’s Word but you need help from the Sanctuary.
The phone rang and I answered it, and it was our pastor. He called with a word from the Lord. He said he was reading the scriptures and this particular scripture kept coming to him, and he called to give it to me. It was Daniel 10:19…”And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.” He had no idea that I was sitting in my living room wondering if I was ever gonna get my strength back. But the Lord spoke to him and told him to encourage me. And oh how it did encourage me. I felt strength returning as I listened to him read those words to me. Oh how thankful I am for the encouragement from this pastor from the word of God.
Oh beloved, God, speaks to our hearts this morning. When all else fails, including your strength, the word of God will strengthen you. And when you have no idea where an encouragement will come from, God may lay it on the heart of someone to call you and encourage you. A pastor has a heart for his people. A pastor seeks the Lord early. A pastor submerses himself in the word and the Spirit. I pray this morning that each of you has a pastor that truly pastors you with faith, teaching and the Word of the Lord.
I also pray that you will learn to refresh yourself in the Lord as well. That you will know the word of God is your source. It’s far beyond the human ability to seek refreshment. Spiritual living requires spiritual nourishment. And you have that at your disposal, if you know the Lord.
God loves you and He is for you. He will send you help from the sanctuary. He will give you strength when you are weak. Run to him this morning in price his name for giving you exactly what you need right on time.
Daniel 10:19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.
I Samuel 30:6 …but David encouraged himself in the Lord.
Colossians 3:16: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
