Eaten any prunes lately?

Can’t say that I have but I do like them. I remember Mom serving the family heated prunes as a side dish or desert. Dry prunes also serve as a healthy snack because they’re high in antioxidants. As a bonus, prunes build bone density. I remember once hearing that companies had tried to give the old fruit a new image. Packaging was labeled dried plums.

Prunes just lack visual appeal; they have dried up and have wrinkles.

I might resemble an old prune but I don’t have to be dry in spirit.

Lord, your plantings have dried and withered.

Have I?

“The vine has dried up
And the fig tree has withered;
The pomegranate, the palm also, and the apple tree,
All the trees of the field have dried up.
Indeed, joy has dried up
From the sons of mankind (Joel 1:12 NASB).”

Jesus is the True Vine; He never withers.

“My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. Just as the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you; remain in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full (John 15:8-11 NASB).”
