Question: Tell us about working with any people who help you create your books — Do you use Beta readers? Hire an editor or proofreader? How do you get your covers?

Answer: I have asked several readers to peruse a new book prior to launch; their feedback is invaluable. I also have an awesome group of field-team marketers that help me spread the word about new books, but at an organic level, whenever they feel led to do so. My editors are invaluable, I use two when I can afford to and one if things are tight. My cover artist is amazing. She has a lot of vision, is a perfectionist, and happens to have become one of my best buds.

Question: Tell us about your newest book. Make us want to read it.

Answer: My newest release is “All the Angels Stood”. It is YA Fiction. Just thinking about the book makes me tear up and praise God over the story that developed. Here’s the back cover blurb:

This is the last week in Staci Schofield’s life. Her birthday is on Monday, which is also the day she plans to die. Poetic, seeing as her mother disappeared on the night of her own birthday. But when a popular guy from school, Rush, befriends Staci, will her plans change?

Rush sees demons clinging to Staci and nothing has worked so far to help her. What will make a difference in her life? A friend, an intercessor? How do you help someone move from ‘take my life’ to ‘Lord, preserve me’?

Question: Tell us one place you visited or person you met, that made a big impression on you, and why.

Answer: I met a popular author and speaker at a Christian woman’s conference a few years ago. The impression she made on me was NOT positive. She was somewhat snooty when I mentioned being a writer and that I felt I would someday be published, as if it was an “exclusive” club that I was not privy to. Remembering her response and how she looked down on me has helped me to actively pursue and uplift people to follow their gifts and talents.

Question: Share something that’s amazing, touching, or that makes you angry.

Answer: God’s love is amazing. I think of it in awe and reflect on how I cannot possibly deserve such a thing and yet, Jesus loves me so much that He died for me. This causes me to have that Joy that is spoken of in the bible, the joy that is not found in things, people, health, compliments, or success.

Question: What’s the worst trouble you ever had with getting a book written (plots, finding needed information, getting a cover done)?

Answer: Writing is the hardest part of getting a book done. I have five sons (four still at home, one is newly married and in the Coast Guard). They are challenging to say the least. It’s hard to find the time and the quiet. I also work about 30 hours a week at a part-time job. I don’t believe in excuses though, so I just do it.

Question: What is your current WIP?

Faith Love and Fried Chicken

Answer: I am finishing up Volume 2: Fall of “Faith, Love, and Fried Chicken: Serial Novel Series”. The story follows a contemporary southern belle, Jaycee, and her beau, Dash, as they bumble through the first eight months of their relationship. The story will make you laugh, cry, feel their humanity and imperfections, as they learn to lean on each other and God.

Question: How many books do you have out?

Answer: I have five books out. Two are nonfiction devotionals. One is contemporary romance, one YA fiction, one period romance, and one period romantic suspense.

Question: What are your future projects?

Answer: I will be writing the Winter Volume in the “Faith, Love…” Series. I also have a Christmas book coming out called, “Christmas Coffee”. I love Christian Period Romance (pre-1900’s fiction) and will be finishing up “Reckless Kate” at the beginning of 2013. This book follows Tara’s little sister from “Persistent Love”.
