Harris, Trump Eye “60 Minutes” Interviews,

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are considering doing interviews on the CBS news program 60 Minutes that would air back-to-back on Oct. 7 as a campaign grand finale.

Neither Harris nor Trump has accepted the invitation yet, but both reportedly have it under consideration.

The quadrennial CBS special typically airs separate interviews with the candidates back-to-back, giving voters one of their last chances before the election to evaluate the two in tandem.

The Trump campaign has said the former president won’t participate in another debate, despite Harris’ acceptance of a CNN invite for a second debate on Oct. 23.

Judge’s Murder Rocks Kentucky Town,

A small Kentucky town is reeling after its sheriff was charged in the shooting death of the county’s only judge in his courthouse chambers.

The preliminary investigation suggests that Letcher County Sheriff Shawn “Mickey” Stines shot and killed Judge Kevin Mullins after an argument in the courthouse, but no motive has been named thus far.

The two men were reportedly old friends and had lunch together just before the shooting.

Sheriff Stines was recently deposed in a federal investigation into a former deputy who had pleaded guilty to raping a woman in Judge Mullins’ chambers. It’s not known whether this played into the argument that led to the shooting.

Stines surrendered to authorities at the courthouse following the shooting.

Sunken Yacht May Hold Classified Data,

The $40 million superyacht that capsized off Italy in August, killing billionaire Mike Lynch and six others, may contain top-secret documents and confidential data on foreign governments in water-tight safes.

Italian prosecutors have ordered heightened security around the wreck, believing it holds encrypted hard drives with classified data tied to Western intelligence services.

Lynch, a former adviser to British prime ministers and recently acquitted in a U.S. fraud case, had strong ties to Western intelligence through his companies, notably Darktrace, an AI-driven cybersecurity firm.

Stephen Chamberlain, Lynch’s business partner and co-defendant in the U.S. fraud case, died after he was hit by a car just one day after the yacht incident.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said Sunday that the House will vote this week on a three-month “bare-bones” stopgap funding bill to keep the government open through Dec. 20.

Federal agents served search warrants on multiple homes belonging to interim New York City Police Commissioner Tom Donlon on Friday. Donlon, who took charge just over a week ago, said the seized materials were unrelated to his NYPD work.

Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre is scheduled to appear before a U.S. House panel on Tuesday to discuss welfare misspending. Favre faces questions amid an ongoing lawsuit.
