THE FLYOVER,

Sunday, September 22, 2024,

Good Morning! On this day in 1776, the British hanged Revolutionary War soldier Nathan Hale as a spy—America’s first espionage agent. Hale’s purported last words made him famous: “I only regret that I have but one life to give to my country.”

Speaking of espionage, did you catch the story from our quote yesterday about a Norwegian mouse that snuck onto a commercial airplane to spy on Spain? A passenger uncovered the plot when she opened her in-flight meal!

We hope you enjoyed reading today’s Flyover. Let us know how we’re doing by replying to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com.

TAKEOFF,

Hezbollah Reeling from Strikes in Lebanon,

Iranian officials said Saturday that the Middle East was on the brink of war as Israel shifts its focus from Hamas to Iranian-backed Hezbollah.

Israel confirmed a targeted strike in Beirut, Lebanon, on Friday that killed Ibrahim Aqil, a senior Hezbollah commander believed to be responsible for the 1983 bombing of a U.S. Marines barracks. Ahmed Wahbi, commander of Hezbollah’s central training unit, was also killed in the strike that saw 37 deaths total.

The risk of all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah continues to rise after 11 months of the two sides exchanging fire but stopping short of all-out war.

Musk Agrees to Brazil’s Demands,

Elon Musk’s X is agreeing to the demands of Brazil’s Supreme Court in order to restore access to the social media platform in the country.

On Saturday, Brazil’s highest court ordered X to name legal representation in the country within five days, a demand X was already in the process of complying with based on a statement from the firm’s lawyers on Friday.

X’s attorneys also agreed to pay fines and to take down accounts that a Brazilian justice deemed a threat to Brazil’s democracy, reversing Musk’s vocal stance to defend free speech in the country.

And Now, A word From one of Our Sponsors,

Before we go let me tell you about one of the books found on my Bookstore,

Go to https:// payhip.com/ Christian NonFiction eBookStore then scroll down and click on Interactive Romans Road World English Version

Long Ago, when the Roman Empire was at the height of its glory, a common saying was “All Roads Lead to Rome.” I want to tell you about a very special road — a road that existed then and still exists now. This road, now almost 2,000 years old, has never led to Rome. Yet, strangely enough, it is called the Romans Road.

This takes the reader to selected passages in the Book of Romans in the Bible to explain the plan of Salvation. This is the ideal way to share the gospel using your Kindle. The reader can also read the entire book of Romans un-interrupted.
