THE FLYOVER REPLAY.
Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
Good Morning! On this day in 1912, American aviator Harriet Quimby became the first woman to fly solo across the English Channel. It took her just under an hour.
Today, we’re spotlighting a 30-second test that says a lot about how well you’re aging. Just sit, stand, and repeat. See what you think in our Et Cetera item below.
We hope you enjoyed reading today’s Flyover. Let us know how we’re doing by replying to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com.

TAKEOFF.
Trump Eyes Foreign Prisons for U.S. Felons.
President Trump is considering whether violent U.S. citizens can be legally deported to prisons in Central America, the White House confirmed Tuesday.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump is reviewing the legality of sending “egregious, repeat offenders” to facilities like El Salvador’s supermax CECOT prison.
In a recent interview with Fox Noticias, Trump praised El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele for his tough approach to crime and said he was impressed by the country’s prison system.
Referring to violent offenders as “homegrown criminals,” Trump said they have no place in American communities. However, legal experts warn the proposal could face serious constitutional challenges.
China’s Propaganda Joins the Trade War.
China has escalated its trade war with the U.S. through a state media blitz, including AI-generated videos and parodies that blame President Donald Trump’s tariffs for rising consumer prices.
In Washington, the Chinese embassy mocked U.S. infrastructure with a meme comparing aging freight trains to China’s sleek bullet rail.
Beijing also ordered its airlines to halt Boeing jet deliveries and suspend purchases of U.S. aircraft parts.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration is considering delisting nearly 300 Chinese companies from U.S. stock exchanges.
Thieves Tunnel Their Way to $20 Million Robbery.
Police are searching for suspects who tunneled beneath a Los Angeles jewelry store, evaded security cameras, broke into a safe, and stole $20 million in gold, cash, and jewelry.
The owners of the family-run Love Jewelry believe the thieves spent weeks digging a tunnel from an abandoned theater next door. Security footage apparently captured the sound of a drill or saw cutting through the store’s wall. Here’s a video report.
The family said the stolen jewelry was not insured. They are offering a $100,000 reward for any information about the burglary.
POLITICS.
The Trump administration froze over $2.2 billion in federal grants and $60 million in contracts to Harvard University after the school refused to comply with government demands to curtail antisemitism on campus.
A federal judge ordered depositions from four Trump administration officials and sharply criticized the government’s inaction in returning Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant from Maryland deported to a prison in El Salvador.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has canceled a Biden-era climate program, saying it funneled too much funding to non-governmental organizations and was bogged down by red tape with limited benefit to farmers.
Rep. Donald Norcross (D-N.J.) remains in intensive care with a gallbladder infection, leaving Democrats one vote shorter in the House, where the GOP has a narrow majority.

Long Ago, when the Roman Empire was at the height of its glory, a common saying was “All Roads Lead to Rome.” I want to tell you about a very special road — a road that existed then and still exists now. This road, now almost 2,000 years old, has never led to Rome. Yet, strangely enough, it is called the Romans Road.
This takes the reader to selected passages in the Book of Romans in the Bible to explain the plan of Salvation. This is the ideal way to share the gospel using your Kindle. The reader can also read the entire book of Romans un-interrupted.
