Devotion
In Genesis, we can see God’s desire to meet His creature, human being. And He did it. But then, we see totally different picture. “During the cool part of the day, the Lord God was walking in the garden. The man and the woman heard him, and they hid among the trees in the garden. The Lord God called to the man and said, “Where are you?” The man said, “I heard you walking in the garden, and I was afraid. I was naked, so I hid” (Genesis 3:9-10 ERV).
Dear friends, today when you hear the voice of the Lord—His Word—what happens with you? Are you getting stronger in your spirit? Are you encouraged? Or are you afraid?
In today’s verse, we see conditions in the Word of God.
1. Obey Me and I will be your God: In the Armenian translation of the Bible it says, “Hear My voice and I will be your God.” To have the presence of the Living God, and to enjoy His blessings, it is important to obey His Word.
2. …and you will be My people: So, if we hear the Word of God and decide to obey Him, then He will be our God, our Protector. If we believe in Christ, He gives us the right to become children of God. If we accept Jesus Christ and follow Him, then we become His people, His children.
Dear friends to be a Christian, it does not mean to visit the church, to have Bibles at home, to show people how you are good. Dressing like a doctor does not make you a doctor.
God’s true children, true believers are those people, who hear the Word of God and obey Him. True Christians have a thankful heart to God. It is imperative to truly obey the Lord and you will have many blessings.
