“But you, Daniel, keep this message a secret. You must close the book and keep this secret until the time of the end. Many people will go here and there looking for true knowledge, and the true knowledge will increase.” – Daniel 12:4 ERV
Devotion
The times we are living in are prophetical times of the Book of Daniel. During Daniel’s life, the message was kept secret because it was rather not applicable and understandable to his time. With the advancing technology increasing, let us use it for the glory of God. Technology is connecting the globe using all various devices, praying together, having meetings, preaching on various social media, even this verse of the day is shared across the globe through emails and other platforms.
For some people, it was considered a sin to use these kinds of technology. I remember one ‘old school’ pastor saying WhatsApp is demonic, all youth should not use it at all. However today social media has become different platforms to connect the world. As Christians, we are using it to proclaim the Good News about God’s kingdom to a mass number of people, both in the church and outside the church. In all communication, the truth is what we prefer to read about and know what is happening around the world. God’s Word is the source of life to mankind. The Spirit-filled person lives dependently on what God says. The true knowledge which people are yearning for is Christ. Jesus Christ is the truth that liberates mankind (John 8:32).
In Proverbs 8, Jesus is depicted as Wisdom and He says, “My words are true, and I will not say anything that is wrong. Everything I say is right; there is nothing false or crooked about it” (v. 7-8). This is what Daniel prophecies about in our verse for today, that “Many people will go there and there looking for true knowledge, and the true knowledge will increase.” We are to increase what has been entrusted upon us, as the Body of Christ. Jesus Christ is coming soon, let us keep proclaiming the Good News!
The New Testament was written when the world was influenced to one culture and one language, which was Greek. So, the message was clear to all and contextually correct and still befitting to us in our current times. Since we are in the era of advanced technology, we are to use the technology means, to proclaim the Good News across the world. God’s Word is highly effective and transformational to every person.
The body of Christ must keep holding the faith and proclaim the Good News as indicated in Matthew 24:14, “And the Good News I have shared about God’s kingdom will be told throughout the world. It will be spread to every nation. Then the end will come.”
The powerful government of this world is soon falling off and God’s kingdom will stand forever!
