When my mother got sick at age 80, we had already made a pact together that she would stay with my family if she needed full time care. It was just what we did. It was the best and most difficult 8 months of my life. If it weren’t for my husband and kiddos helping out, I couldn’t have done it. I worked part time as well, so it was a juggling game to keep all things going including her. But in the midst of it all, I was given two sweet friends forever- her home health nurse and her home health aide. On her final hospital trip, hubby and I were with her, and I was holding her hand as she departed this life. I would take nothing for that experience.
Oh beloved, whatever you are going through, even if you are going through it alone, there is One who is holding your hand through it all. Jesus already said He would never leave you or forsake you. The valley of the shadow of death is the place where you can see God in person. Fearing no evil, His rod and staff comfort you. This is how the Shepherd cares for His sheep. He will also send helpers along the way. Something about being a child of God sends Comfort and Peace as well. One day towards the end of those 8 months, my mother said one morning: “I just want to go home.” I explained that she had to stay with us till she recovered. She replied, “Oh I don’t mean that home.” She longed for heaven and she knew without a doubt it would all be okay.
God wants you to know that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. And on that you can rely, no matter if you have family helping or if you are walking alone on your path. He says that He is the friend that sticks closer than a brother. He is your Bright and Morning Star and your Evening Shade. Today He wants you to make sure that you are in The Beloved and that you know what the Word says so that you are at peace come what may.
God loves you and He will prove it over and over. As you wake up this morning give Him praise for who He is for you. And live that peaceful, heaven minded life today and every day till you see Him in person in heaven.
2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.
Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 100:3 Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
John 11:25 I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
