THE FLYOVER REPLAY.

Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

Good Morning! On this day in 1770, five American colonists were fatally shot by British soldiers in what is known as the Boston Massacre. John Adams believed that “on that night, the foundation of American independence was laid.”

To our prehistoric ancestors, a woolly mammoth must have been an awesome sight. For us modern humans, science now brings us the next best thing: the woolly mouse. Not quite as scary but way cuter, as you can see in our story below.

Mistake Tracking: Due to an editing error, we inadvertently referred to President Trump yesterday as “former President Trump” in an Et Cetera item. Apologies for that, and thanks to the sharp-eyed readers who pointed it out.

We hope you enjoyed reading today’s Flyover. Let us know how we’re doing by replying to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com.

TAKEOFF.

Trump Promises ‘Our Greatest Era’.

President Trump delivered the longest presidential address in history Tuesday night, emphasizing the American dream and highlighting his administration’s accomplishments in its first six weeks.

Trump touched on immigration policy, energy plans, efforts to end diversity programs in government, and asked people to give his tariff policy time to work.

The President emphasized eliminating waste and fraud in government while urging Congress to pass legislation cutting taxes for Americans and eliminating taxes on tips and overtime.

The speech met with open Democratic Party opposition. One, Rep. Al Green, was ejected from the chamber by the Sgt.-at-Arms.

Canada, China Retaliate on Tariffs.

President Trump imposed a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico Tuesday, with Canadian energy products taxed at 10%, while tariffs on Chinese goods were raised to 20%.

Canada and China responded with retaliatory tariffs, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announcing duties on over $100 billion in U.S. goods.

Late Tuesday, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said President Trump may announce a compromise with Canada and Mexico today.

In the meantime, Trump reinforced his stance on social media, warning that any retaliatory tariffs from Canada would be met with an equal increase in U.S. tariffs.

Egg Shortage? Rent a Chicken.

New Hampshire’s Rent the Chicken is offering a live, clucking solution to egg shortages, allowing customers to rent egg-laying chickens for their home.

For about $600 a season, the family-owned and operated business will supply renters with a coop, two laying hens, food, a waterer, a feeder, and instructions.

The appeal is availability, not price. The average return, they say, is about a dozen eggs per week through the six-month seasonal rental, which comes to roughly $23 a week.

Similar services like Rent A Coop in Maryland, Cluck It All Farms in Texas, and Hatch The Chicken, a sister operation, are also popping up across the U.S., offering regional chicken rentals to meet demand for fresh eggs.

POLITICS.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said on social media his country was open to peace talks Tuesday, stating it was “time to make things right” with the U.S. and follow President Trump’s “strong leadership.”

A GOP bill to bar transgender athletes from girls and women’s sports failed in the Senate Monday, falling short of the 60 votes needed on a 51-45 party-line vote.

The Social Security Administration announced Monday over $800 million in potential savings, including $550 million from a hiring freeze and overtime cuts, along with reductions in grants, property, and payroll.

This work was first published in weekly installments over a twenty-year span in the London Metropolitan Tabernacle’s periodical, The Sword and the Trowel.

Completed sections were released volume by volume, until the seventh and final volume was released in 1885. Within a decade more than 120,000 sets had been sold. The Treasury of David is a superb literary achievement. Eric Hayden, pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle a century after Spurgeon’s ministry began there, calls this work “Spurgeon’s magnum opus.” Spurgeon’s wife said that if Spurgeon had never written any other work, this would have been a permanent literary memorial.
